In the past week at the Trade Fair Grounds in Naxxar, Malta, was organised the XLR-8 Live which was in collaboration with Max Power, DB Drag, and Total Car Audio magazines. Along the four day festival, thousands made it to the show, which was held for the second consecutive year. Street Modifieds, Show Cars and also Concept Cars made the show a one-off and surely made a good name for them selves.

The event kicked off on Thursday 2nd June with many participants making their launching throughout the evening, with great shows that attracted quite a lot of people. The one I most recount is the launching of MTX’s Orange Hyundai Coupe. The launching consisted of a live performance of one of Malta’s top DJs: DJ Ruby, while dancers uncovered the modified (the car also started dancing on its hydraulic stockers!) the show went on till the closing hours keeping entertained those present which I have to say it looked like a ‘Car-show-Party’.

The Street Dreams, who participated for the second time where in with their ultra low BMW, a VW Bora with lambo-doors and carbon-fibre bonnet and also a modified Black Fiat Stilo.

Another team who came up with a really good job was the Racer-X team. Racer-X for the second year have participated with a master piece, this time an ultra modified Honda Civic, which looked as a concept car or even as a prototype. The picture explains itself! Racer X also entered the show with a Green Modified Civic and a Blue Subaru Impresa. Also new comers Zwett Customs introduced their selves with a big bang. Zwett entered the show with a nice looking Violet Honda Civic, with body and interior alterations making it an attraction. This along the Yellow Honda CRX which was also a very good entry for Zwett. The Kuki Team was in with last years Alfa Romeo, this time with more and more modifications done, but leaving that Corvette looking rear. Ben’R was once again participating with their modified Toyota MR-2, which was featured as a cover story in Revs magazine. The MR-2 was submitted to more detail and modification, namely the Celica front head lights, Ferrari Enzo/Toyota Celica looking front bumper, and rear lights.

Also present at the show was the Ferrari Pit-Stop challenge. This was a competition were every one could participate and change the tyres of a true Ferrari F1 car in time trial.
Apart from this small recount of what was happening in the show, viewing the picture gallery will help you realise that Malta is cultivating its culture of modifying cars, and such shows helps the Maltese to show what they are able to create. Apart from all, features on foreign established magazines are a showcase of Maltese talent.
